The Chicken Test is brought to you by W.R. and Bryce who live in Seattle. Bryce spends too much time on Twitter and posts photos to Flickr; sometimes you'll find him on Facebook. Look for both of them at BarCamps

Wireless Toronto and No One is Illegal in Dufferin Grove Park

A Nice Saturday in the Dufferin Grove Park, Wireless Toronto launched Toronto’s largest free wirelss hotspot with the help of their sponsors Kijiji.

Then there was a rally at the end of a march from Queens Park for the Second Annual “No One Is Illegal” Community Fair.

I felt like a little Jeru so that is the soundtrack if you want you can get the video in Windows Media or Quicktime7. You can also check out the photos on Flickr.

Ask The (Craptastic) Chicken

I am a great admirer of both Strongbad and Ask a Ninja so I wanted to do a tribute, but I’m not super crazy about the results.

So what have I learned…

  • Editing is hard work
  • Sound engineering is for pros
  • I need to talk about something I care about or I sound like an idiot.

ChickenCamp06

After having such a rewarding time at all the BarCamps I have been attending lately I thought I should organize something at my old stomping grounds – Riverdale Farm, Toronto. So I organized ChickenCamp06 a day of unconference goodness. Topics included: My talk on Cluckin’ vs. Scratchin’, Dealing with other animals in the pen, the ducks did an introduction to swimming and I discussed organizing FarmCamp with a Cow.

Action Satisfaction

Jurassic 5 on stage

You say you want action satisfaction
The brothers with the positive reaction
The crew with style thats on top of the pile
J5s gonna rock a long long while

Jurassic 5

So I recorded this right after we finished up at BarCampTdot on Sunday. The rant was about Development Methodoligies but I think it also applies to something else that I have been thinking about.

The longest session I attended at BarCamp was the, “Lets discuss BarCamp” session. I for one think we have talked about BarCamp enough. When someone wants to jaw about how to make BarCamp better for hours on end :-) or thinks that they would like to see a HardwareCamp or StartUpCamp or CupCakeCamp

All I have to say is less Talk more Rock! (a clichè, I know)

I urge people to go out and organize an event, it’s not that hard, you can do it. If you want to see an event happen you’ll have to be prepared to organize it. A bunch of us are going to give you advice on how do do it soon on the BarCamp wiki

Now I don’t know exactly what GarrettD (with his bad self running things) is yammering about but I like the cut of his jib. I can’t believe I said jib. Jib reminds me of giblets and that gives me the willies.
