Paula Thorton pointed these post out this morning and there are actually a quick, interesting read.
Over at the Jive Software blog, Go Big Always, there are two interviews with attendees of the Jive Enterprise UI Summit.
First up is SAP’s Dan Rosenberg.
Do you see change occurring and if so, what’s driving that change?
The main thing that is changing is that the buying decision for enterprise software is moving from the CIO level and into the hands of the users themselves. These users have expectations based on popular retail products and the web.
Followed by Adobe’s Matthias Zeller
Do you see change occurring and if so, what’s driving that change?
Absolutely. I think engaging an easy to use user interface has become a sales driver and competitive differentiator in the world of enterprise software.
I’m honestly much more inclined to think like Dan Rosenberg over Matthias Zeller but that is because I am a pragmatist. That being said I certainly understand the potential for skunkworks
enterprise mashups.

So this is the view from my temporary housing. Today was pretty wild. Veronica and Sadie flew home to Toronto and I had new employee orientation where I received a mountain of materials to read. This is material that doesn’t even have to do with my job. I’m going to have some late nights doing some elearning I think.
It’s very exciting. I’m going to refresh Seattle with Craig on Wednesday and there is some crazy picnic this weekend that people are talking about.

This is a project that can help bryce justify his playmobil collection which is considerable.
So it’s Bryce’s Birthday! He’s old but he still remembered to tell me to say thanks for all the birthday wishes.
(NOTE: this is Bryce and I know writting in the third person is weird but I can’t help it. Thanks everyone for wishing me a happy birthday.)
So today he got some card from his family and they were really nice.
This card is from his wife Veronica

This is from his Daughter Sadie

and this was from his Mom and Dad

Now over the years I have seen Bryce’s parents put some pressure on him. They urged him to buy a house, they wanted him to get married and have kids. When they realized that the married part wasn’t likely going to happen they skipped it and moved on to the “have kids pressure”. But now that he has the house/wife/kid combo I am wondering what they mean by this card. Is it a move to the west coast and have a mid-life crissis cowboy affair?
I’m sure that is not what they meant but everytime I look at this card I just can’t help but think Brokeback Birthday. You know Bryce does like facial hair after all so maybe his parents are on to something. RaRR!
